These phony ice dam companies will lie about their equipment and will not be able to prove that they are using steam. If the company has a trigger on the gun, it’s a pressure washer. If there is a colored plastic tip on the gun, it’s a pressure washer. A steamer will have no trigger to squeeze and will never have a plastic tip. A steam tip will be a threaded piece of pipe designed to control the flow of steam. There are many other differences and if you would like to discuss them please call us. We are the only company currently using both a pressure gauge and a temperature gauge on our machines at all times to prove we are truly running a steamer. We do this because it is difficult to tell the difference between a hot pressure washer and a steamer and also because we want to make it an industry standard. This will eliminate those companies who are lying about their machines.<\/p>\n

A pressure washer relies on high pressure, not temperature to remove the ice. Pressure is extremely bad news on any roof! A steamer relies on low pressure and high temperature to remove the ice.
