Ice dam removal in Coon Rapids MN is our specialty! We use only the best ice dam steaming equipment to guarantee you the safest and most effective way to remove the ice dams from your roof. We have been removing ice dams for over 10 years and know the business well. Never allow anyone to remove ice on your roof with a pressure washer, hammer, ax, chemicals, or anything other than a steamer. One of the biggest scams in the ice dam removal industry is companies claiming they have a steamer when in fact all they have is a hot water pressure washer. There is a huge difference between the two and yet are so similar it is difficult for the average person to tell them apart. A few of the differences to easily spot are the handle and the tip of the gun. A pressure washer will have a trigger to squeeze to allow the water to come out of the gun, a steamer will not have a trigger at all. A pressure washer will have a removable tip made of either colored plastic or metal. A steamer will always have a permanent metal tip that looks like a pipe. However there are several variations and kinds of tips such as a fan tip. But the best is the pipe as shown in the videos. The biggest difference between the two machines is one will damage your roof no matter what, and one will not. A steamer is designed for ice dam removal and a pressure washer is not. A steamer will operate at 100 psi and at a temperature of 250-300 degrees F. Steam is produced at 212 degrees. But gentle steam is produced at even greater temperatures, around 250 F minimum. A pressure washer typically runs at a minimum of 500-1000 psi and generally cannot produce temperatures greater than 200 degrees F. So a pressure washer doesn’t even truly produce steam, and relies on warm water at high pressure to remove ice. Pressure is bad news on any roof. A steamer relies on temperature not pressure to remove the ice. Below is a video that shows the danger of allowing a pressure washer on your roof.
We are so much against pressure washers that we have decided to always run pressure and temperature gauges on our machines at all times, this will hopefully be a new industry standard. But currently we are the only company who uses both gauges at all times. We hope by using gauges and informing owners of this important decision we will eliminate those phony ice dam companies running pressure washers. We are very up front and honest about our prices are very competitive. We care about each job and we will not leave your roof half covered in snow. We are fully insured and accident free and every job is always done with integrity.Below is a two part video of an ice dam steaming job we did in Coon Rapids MN. Both videos show the machines we operate with the gauges. Part one is of the front of the home, part two is of the back side two and a half stories up on a ladder steaming.
